SUMMARY:Movement Invitations that Sidestep Translation
DESCRIPTION:What are the images or physical properties that guide how we mo
 ve? In this class series\, we will begin each class with a combination of 
 guided improvisation and specific movement explorations using some of the 
 metaphors of Gaga movement language and circular and spiraling patterns pr
 acticed in qigong and contemporary dance. The second half of class will be
  dedicated to experimenting with creating entryways into our unique and pr
 eferred styles of movement through the practice of scoring.\n\nThe culmina
 tion of each class will center its exploration around the questions: How c
 an we convey the feeling of our movement not through prescriptions but thr
 ough invitations\, such as an initiation pattern or a suggested orientatio
 n to our surroundings? And how might prompts for others’ movement scores
  spark new discoveries in our own bodies? In short\, how can we become mor
