SUMMARY:Moonshot Film Challenge: Hudson Valley Screening
DESCRIPTION:Doors open at 6:30 p.m. – make sure to check in early to take
pictures at the step-and-repeat! Come early for drinks and popcorn (inclu
ded in your ticket)! Screening starts at 7:00 p.m.\n\nCome see the five fi
lms made as part of the Moonshot Film Challenge: A Nice Place to Visit\, L
ife Begins\, New World Orioles\, Out of Time\, and The Swipe.\n\nIn the fi
lm challenge\, accepted participants are placed on crews of strangers and
work with women and gender-expansive filmmakers in every role of productio
 n. We provide cinema-quality equipment courtesy of our sponsors\, producti
on insurance\, waivers to submit to film fests\, and more!\n\nThe films ma
de during our past film challenges have been accepted into over 100 film f
estivals. More importantly\, past participants’ careers accelerate after
this program due to the connections they make during the challenge.\n\nDu
ring this year’s challenge we had five teams: Team Gina\, Team Celine\,
Team Patricia\, Team Mira\, and Team Emerald – each named for a female o
r gender-expansive filmmaker. The genre for each team’s film was determi
ned by pulling genres out of a hat. Once they had their assigned genre\, e
ach team hit the ground running to write\, shoot\, and edit a film over ju
st two weekends!\n\nThe result is five amazing films that you can see at t
his screening!\n\nWe will also be screening a sneak preview of the film Ho
 w To Use The Bathroom\, written\, directed\, and starring Lex Powell\, a M
oonshot Film Challenge participant!\n\nHere’s what Lex has to say about
how the Moonshot Film Challenge inspired them to create this film:\n\n“S
omeone recently told me their film career was the result of a million tiny
fires\, that you never know which one will be the one that catches. OK\,
so the Everybody Hurts table read lit up the fire-reminder that things do
n’t have to be perfect to share them\, or for people to take meaning fro
m them. Then\, I participated in the Moonshot Film Challenge\, where I was
teamed up with a group of women and gender expansive strangers to make a
short over a weekend\, and this fire burned away some of my internalized b
locks about what’s possible inside of limitations. And the most recent f
ire came from following a bunch of FilmStack folks who have inspired me to
join in the NonDē (nondependent) film movement – which I didn’t know
I was basically already doing\, because no one’s trying to open the Hol
lywood gates for me anyway. But I might as well stop complaining about it
and JUST MAKE SOMETHING.”\n\nWe will be raffling off a $25 gift card to
Rough Draft Bar &amp\; Books!\n\n**If you are coming in from NYC\, there i
 s a Trailways bus that goes to Rosendale.\n\nThank you to HUDSY\, NYSCA\,
the Artists Thrive\, and the Amplify Her Foundation for making this year
 ’s Moonshot Film Challenge possible.
