DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of Mexican~Latin~Caribbean roots with to
 rchbearers of a 5 generation son jarocho legacy and recipients of the pres
 tigious Premio Nacional de Ciencias y Artes Los Vega. They will be joined 
 by local act Pulso de Barro who will include 20 minutes of son jarocho dan
 ce instruction for audience participation in their opening set. Audience m
 embers are invited to join the players after the show for a Fandango\, a s
 on jarocho jam open to all players.\n\nLos Vega is a family-based ensemble
  with over 20 years of experience performing son jarocho\, a traditional m
 usic from Veracruz\, Mexico. Known for their strong cultural roots\, refin
 ed musicianship\, and dynamic stage presence\, the group has become a stan
 dout name in the world of traditional Mexican music.\n\nThey have performe
 d at major cultural festivals and venues across Mexico\, as well as in the
  United States\, Canada\, China\, and Colombia. Their music has been featu
 red in film\, including a recording of “La Bruja” for the Oscar-nomina
 ted soundtrack of Frida (2001). In 2019\, they received another Oscar nomi
 nation through the Lunas del Auditorio.\n\nWith five albums and an interna
 tional profile\, Los Vega continues to offer a powerful and authentic son 
 jarocho experience to audiences worldwide.\n\n@losvegasonjarocho_\n\nPulso
  de Barro means “Pulse of Clay” and that is precisely what this Kingst
 on-based collective delivers: a musical ceremony - land based celebration 
 rooted in son jarocho\, the four-hundred-year-old music born at the collis
 ion of African Yoruba rhythms\, Andalusian melody\, and indigenous voices 
 on the Gulf Coast of Veracruz.\n\nMaria Puente Flores and Mateo Cano\, fro
 m Mexico City and Veracruz\, are co-founders of this local group that focu
 ses on cultural exchange\, joyful resistance and traditional roots instrum
