  Hudson Valley artist Eva Tenuto for the opening of her first solo exhibit
 ion\, Life After | Afterlife. Tenuto returned to painting during a period 
 of profound loss. Her richly textured\, mixed-media paintings explore pres
 ence\, vitality\, transformation\, and the unseen forces that shape our li
 ves. Working intuitively with acrylic\, oil stick\, oil pastel\, fiber\, c
 ollage\, and other materials\, she builds surfaces through layering\, scra
 ping\, covering\, and revealing. Her paintings are nonlinear and often unr
 uly. They insist on remaining fully alive in the face of whatever untether
 s us from all we know.\n\nThe exhibition runs October 3 through November 8
 .
