DESCRIPTION:The Jazz Mandolin Project will perform a short run of dates in
  New England and New York this February\, their first true tour in two dec
 ades. JMP is an adventurous ensemble founded in 1993 by mandolinist Jamie 
 Masefield in Burlington\, Vermont. What began as a way for Masefield to ex
 plore improvisation outside traditional jazz frameworks evolved into a bou
 ndary-pushing trio with a rotating cast of collaborators. From its earlies
 t days\, the group became known for genre-blurring live shows that leaned 
 into spontaneity\, groove\, and fearless experimentation. The current line
 up includes Masefield\, drummer Jon Fishman\, bassist Danton Boller and tr
 umpeter / multi-instrumentalist Michael “Mad Dog” Mavridoglou.\n\nRath
 er than sticking to a single genre\, the Jazz Mandolin Project weaves toge
 ther elements of jazz\, rock\, funk\, and world-inspired rhythms. Their di
 scography reflects that diversity\, but it’s the band’s live performan
 ces—defined by musical risk-taking and unpredictability—that earned th
 em a loyal following. At its core\, JMP has always been about the thrill o
 f discovery and the freedom to go anywhere musically on any given night.
