DESCRIPTION:The Historical Society of Woodstock is pleased to announce a sc
 reening of the historical film Calico Rebellion at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday Jul
 y 19 at the Tinker Street Cinema\, 132 Tinker St.\, Woodstock\, NY 12498. 
 Admission is $20 in advance from www.historicalsocietyofwoodstock.org\, an
 d $25 at the door (doors will open at 1:30 p.m.). All profits will benefit
  the Historical Society of Woodstock. Calico Rebellion recounts the story 
 of the Anti-Rent War\, which took place in the Catskill Mountains in the 1
 840s\, when thousands of farmers\, disguised in masks and gowns\, organize
 d a broad-scale rebellion to protest the outdated and exploitive feudal pr
 actices of elite\, absent landlords. The film showing will also feature a 
 discussion of the film and the historical events it depicts with director 
 Victoria Kupchinetsky\, producers Misha Gutkin and Peter Hutchison\, and d
 escendants of Calico rebels Burr Hubbell\, Jim Andrews\, and Marianne Gree
 nfield.
