SUMMARY:Hide and Shine and The Warp/The Weft
DESCRIPTION:The songs of Hide and Shine seem unusual but feel so familiar
 —like nostalgia that you can’t quite put your finger on. The band’s 
 first description was “An Art Death Indie Post-Punk Country Rock Alterna
 tive.” Record store addicts determined that the music had the raw\, lite
 rary punk of The Replacements\, the sweet monstrous attack of Dinosaur Jr.
 \, the dark introspection of Radiohead\, and noticeable nods to grunge\, c
 lassic metal\, classic country and classic rock. The music is “laden wit
 h a punk attitude\, but nonetheless spiritually inclined.” The lyrics of
 ten hint at esoteric themes. There is also a deep note of social empathy\,
  but it never emerges as “political.” It’s more concerned with human
 ity and buried under poetry.\nThe Warp/The Weft:The Warp/The Weft centers 
 itself amid rock\, psych-folk\, and progressive styles to create impassion
 ed music that's at once winter-cold and wool-warm. Since 2012 and on three
  albums\, The Warp/The Weft has blended poetic lyrics and "spirit-conjurin
 g" tenors\, which led psych-folk legend Tom Rapp (Pearls Before Swine) to 
 ask\, "Can I have your voice when you're through with it?" The band is at 
 work on its fourth LP.
