SUMMARY:Cole Quest and The City Pickers & Kate Prascher
DESCRIPTION:Cole Quest and The City Pickers are not your average bluegrass
band. Led by the charismatic and talented Cole Quest\, grandson of the fol
k icon Woody Guthrie\, this group of New York City musicians is united by
their love of bluegrass and their passion for bringing a fresh\, innovativ
e sound to the traditional genre. With their infectious energy and high-spi
rited talent\, The City Pickers have become a mainstay on the local scene
and have gained recognition from industry professionals and fans alike. Th
eir debut album\, recorded at NYC's renowned Magic Shop studio\, was relea
sed in 2017 to critical acclaim\, and in April 2021\, they released their
first EP\, Self [En]Titled on Omnivore Records. Their latest full length L
P\, Homegrown on Jalopy Records\, was released on July 18th with the help
of Grammy award-winning producer and engineers including Steve Rosenthal.B
ut what really sets Cole Quest and The City Pickers apart is their unique
musical approach. Blending original tunes with traditional favorites\, the
y infuse each song with a special brand of high-spirited energy and a high
lonesome sound that'll leave you wanting more. Their music is inspired by
the stories and emotions of everyday life\, and their instrumentation and
vocal style are second to none.Over the years\, The City Pickers have sha
red bills with some of the biggest names in bluegrass and Americana music\
 , including Billy Strings\, Sierra Hull\, Sarah Jaroz\, Della Mae\, The Br
others Comatose\, The Lil Smokies\, Whiskey Shivers\, Old Salt Union\, The
Lonely Heartstring Band\, Willie Watson\, Blind Boy Paxton\, Mike + Ruthy
  (of The Mammals)\, Paula Cole\, Tom Paxton\, David Amram\, Tony Trischka\
, and Michael Daves among others. But for them\, the real joy comes from p
erforming for live audiences across the world and connecting with fans who
share their love of bluegrass. They have also been featured in The Bluegr
 ass Situation\, Bluegrass Today\, Folk Alley\, WFUV\, American Songwriter\
 , Americana Highways\, The Alternate Root\, The Morton Report\, and many m
 ore.\nhttp://colequest.com/\nKATE PRASCHER\nKate Prascher doesn’t want y
ou to look at her. She wants you to see what she sees. She wants to know i
f you see it too. For her\, songs are a chance to say things that don’t
usually make it into polite conversation. They are letters folded up and l
eft at your doorstep. Songwriting allows her to say the quiet parts loud a
nd loud parts quietly.\nPrascher’s songs are a recognition of our everyd
ay darkness. They wade through the undercurrents of memory and draw half-p
ortraits of characters both real and imagined. They shine a light on the c
omplex web of our relationships.\nPrascher grew up in Memphis\, Tennessee
and now makes her home in the Hudson Valley of New York. She played piano
and sang as a child and began playing roots music after she moved to New Y
ork. Once she heard bluegrass music live\, Prascher dove headlong into pla
ying mandolin and guitar\, going to late night jam sessions\, taking lesso
ns with bluegrass maverick Michael Daves and penning her own songs.\nA sea
soned performer\, Prascher has played the Knitting Factory (New York)\, Ja
lopy Theatre (Brooklyn)\, LEAF Festival (Black Mountain)\, Club Passim (Bo
ston) and the Ossipee Music Festival (Maine). Her debut album\, Shake the
Dust\, features Bobby Hawk (Taylor Swift)\, Bennett Sullivan (Bright Star)
and Nate Sabat (Mile Twelve). Her voice has been described as having an
“intangible vintage feel.”\n“This remarkable newcomer has already ma
stered the art of juggling opposites\, telling stories of messy situations
with captivating grace. Prascher evokes the emotional immediacy of early
country music without resorting to fusty mimicry.”\n⁃NO DEPRESSION\nht
