Brooklyn, NY based goth-folk duo Charming Disaster will return to the underworld on June 18, bringing their playfully macabre duets inspired by death, crime, myth, magic, folklore, science, and the occult to the Widow Jane Mine’s subterranean concert space. They are touring behind their new album, Our Lady of Radium, inspired by the life and work of pioneering scientist Marie Curie, whose discovery of radium launched the nuclear age. “An oddly warm, compelling, and endearingly twisted goth folk song cycle…Our Lady of Radium is a devilishly crafty work…a parable of perseverance and humanity.” –Stereo Embers Magazine

Charming Disaster was formed in 2012 by Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris. Inspired by the gothic humor of Edward Gorey and Tim Burton, the murder ballads of the Americana tradition, and the dramatic flair of the cabaret, they write songs that tell stories, using two voices to explore dark narratives and characters with a playfully macabre sensibility. Their music has been featured on the podcast Welcome to Night Vale, they have toured with legendary cello-rock ensemble Rasputina, and they have captivated audiences across the United States, at festivals, clubs, museums, and the occasional historic cemetery.
