Fauré at Sunset:Gabriel Fauré: The Nocturnes (complete)Each visionary pe
rformance of the award-winning Borromeo String Quartet strengthens and dee
pens its reputation as one of the most important ensembles of our time. Ad
mired and sought after for both its fresh interpretations of the classical
music canon and its championing of works by 20th and 21st century compose
rs\, the ensemble has been hailed for its “edge-of-the- seat performance
s\,” by the Boston Globe\, which called it “simply the best.”\nInspi
ring audiences for more than 25 years\, the Borromeo continues to be a pio
neer in its use of technology\, and has the trailblazing distinction of be
ing the first string quartet to utilize laptop computers on the concert st
age. Reading music this way helps push artistic boundaries\, allowing the
artists to perform solely from 4-part scores and composers’ manuscripts\
, a revealing and metamorphic experience which these dedicated musicians n
ow teach to students around the world. As The New York Times noted\, “Th
e digital tide washing over society is lapping at the shores of classical
music. The Borromeo players have embraced it in their daily musical lives
like no other major chamber music group.” Moreover\, the Quartet often l
eads discussions enhanced by projections of handwritten manuscripts\, inve
stigating with the audience the creative process of the composer. And in 2
003 the Borromeo became the first classical ensemble to make its own live
concert recordings and videos\, distributing them for many years to audien
ces through its Living Archive\, a music learning web portal for which a n
ew version will soon be released.\nMICHAEL STEPHEN BROWN has been hailed b
y The New York Times as “one of the leading figures in the current renai
ssance of performer-composers.”\nWinner of the 2018 Emerging Artist Awar
d from Lincoln Center and a 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant\, Brown has rec
ently performed as soloist with the Seattle Symphony\, NFM Leopoldinum\, a
 nd the National\, Phoenix\, Grand Rapids\, North Carolina\, Wichita\, and
Albany Symphonies\; and recitals at Carnegie Hall\, the Mostly Mozart Fest
ival\, and Beethoven-Haus Bonn. He recently toured his own Piano Concerto
around the US and Poland with several orchestras. A frequent artist of the
Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center\, Brown is featured on the Societ
y’s 2023-24 season with a solo recital at Alice Tully Hall\, tours the U
S and Scotland with his longtime duo partner cellist Nicholas Canellakis\,
performs with violinist Pinchas Zukerman at Wolf Trap and the Green Music
Center\, and embarks on a composing residency at the Yaddo artist colony.
