DESCRIPTION:Join us and the Women’s Studio Workshop as we host: A Culinar
 y Uprising: The Story of Bloodroot\n\nDirected and shot by Annie Laurie Me
 donis\, an LGBTQ+ and women-forward filmmaker\, A Culinary Uprising tells 
 the inspiring story of Selma Miriam (89) and Noel Furie (79)\, who founded
  Bloodroot\, a feminist vegan restaurant and bookstore. For 48 years\, the
 y’ve been a strong voice for diversity\, women’s empowerment\, and the
  wellbeing of all living creatures. Bloodroot has been featured in the New
  York Times and the Washington Post\, and continues to be on the cutting e
 dge of vegan dining worldwide.\n\nJoining us after the film for a Q&amp\;A
  is Emily Larned\, who authored a book about Bloodroot and also appears i
 n our documentary\, in conversation with Faythe Levine\, Archivist from Wo
 men’s Studio Workshop. Larned’s exhibition\, “Workshopping\,” open
 s on October 3\, 2025\, and is on view at WSW through January 2026.
