Yin yoga is a gentle and meditative style of yoga with asanas that are held for longer periods of time (typically 3 – 5 minutes) in a nourishing and supportive manner. Yin yoga targets the deeper connective tissues; helps prevent joint rigidity and immobility, while also helping to enliven degenerative tissues. Energetically, Yin Yoga opens the body’s meridian system, which enhances the body’s energetic flow and supports emotional equilibrium. It emphasizes stillness and prepares both the body and the mind for a deeper experience in meditation. This practice is beneficial before bed and assists in a dream like state of consciousness. Yin yoga is a great compliment to all styles of yoga and level of students. This class will blend the healing elements of sacred sounds with Yin postures to relax the body and mind and promote deep healing and relaxation.
