Performing Arts of Woodstock opens its spring season with Chekhov’s masterpiece Uncle Vanya. In Uncle Vanya, Chekhov shows us a dispirited family, each of whose members is facing change but none is able to handle it. Chekhov scholar Paul Schmidt’s lively translation used in this production captures the humor Chekhov intended in dramatizing these situations. Yet for all its misplaced idealism and unrequited love, Uncle Vanya carries a message of courage and hope.

The production opens on Friday, May 11 and runs for three weekends through May 27.  The schedule follows:

FRIDAY & SATURDAY,  MAY 11-12, 18-19, and 25-26  @8 PM
SUNDAY,  MAY 13, 20, and 27  @1:30 PM

General admission is $23, $20 for seniors and students. Group prices are available. For information and reservations, call (845) 679-7900.
