We’re kicking off January with Wendy Wasserstein’s final play, THIRD. Though it premiered over a decade ago, the play is perhaps even more topical now, a somewhat prescient rumination on divineness, considering our current political situation.
When her “walking red state” of a student, Woodson Bull III, submits an essay on King Lear that she feels is much beyond his abilities, left-leaning Professor Laurie Jameson brings him up on plagiarism charges. But is her dislike of “Third” (as he prefers to be called) and his politics clouding her judgement?
Noni Connor*, Dana Patton*, and Ken Thompson* return to TheaterSounds, joined by Cal Silverstein, to star in Wasserstein’s “best in years,” (according to Variety) “thematically richer and more emotionally satisfying than any mere political screed.” “It’s the certainty of uncertainty in life that makes THIRD so affecting.” -The NY Times
We look forward to seeing you there!
