The Reher Center for Immigrant Culture is pleased to present a special showing it’s featured exhibit for summer 2018 , “The Story Continues: Portraits of Today’s Immigrant Businesses.” This exhibit features the portraits and stories of a diverse group of contemporary immigrant business owners and artists who live and work in the Rondout, photographs by Nancy Donskoj with accompanying text by Lynn Woods.

Since the early 19th century, Rondout’s lower Broadway has attracted generations of entrepreneurial immigrants, one of whom was Frank Reher, who emigrated from Krakow and opened a bread bakery at the corner of Broadway and Spring Street in 1908. The trend continues today, with immigrants from Mexico, Italy, Morocco, Austria, Sweden and other countries opening businesses in the neighborhood to support their families and grow Kingston’s economy. This featured exhibit for the Reher Center’s 2018 season honors that legacy.
