Walk in’s welcome!
Cheryl Rice’s RANDOM WRITING Poetry Workshop combines Inspiration, Word and Text Maneuvers, and Peer Response to get your writing muscles flexing! For New and Used Poets!
-Inspiration is provocative prompts, ‘hot-button’ topics drawn from personal experience & unexpected sources– right under our noses!
–Wordplay is dictionary games, classical & modern forms, aural/oral gymnastics!
–Text manipulation is altering the physical material a poem is written, & being open to what future work might be suggested by the resulting accidental phrases.
–Peer response helps focus our work in a safe, sensitive, gloves-off group, and gives poets an outside perspective on their work that’s difficult to obtain through solitary revision.
Other RANDOM WRITING workshop subjects include marketing, self-publishing, and how to find out what’s going on in the thriving Hudson Valley poetry scene, and beyond.
CHERYL A. RICE’s poetry has appeared in ART TIMES, Chronogram, The Country and Abroad, The Florida Review, Home Planet News, Mangrove, Metroland, The Temple, Ulster Magazine, and The Woodstock Times, among others. Rice is listed in the Poets & Writers Directory. She holds a B.S. from SUNY New Paltz, and studied at the University of Albany. She is the founder/host of the semi-annual ‘Sylvia Plath Bake-Off’, allegedly the world’s only combination open mic/baking contest.
