Bring a beloved but broken item to be fixed for free at the Kingston Repair Café & Bike Clinic.
Repair Café is a community-wide event, providing free repairs of household items by skilled volunteers who are your neighbors. Look around your house and find something that’s broken: mechanical, electrical or electronic. Things made of wood. Jewelry. Seamstresses expert with both machine sewing and hand-sewing will mend clothing and textiles (note: we cannot do alterations). We can help you with your laptop, tablet or smart phone. We also provide knife and tool sharpening (limit: 2 per person). And Vince Murray will bring his welding truck for metal repairs, including high-temperature welding of aluminum.
Bike-Friendly Kingston will provide a free tune-up and safety check of your bike. Bring Bike-Friendly Kingston is our local, volunteer advocacy group, promoting safety for cyclists and providing resources for the biking community in Kingston. Bring your bike no later than 2pm to allow time for it to be worked on, and get ready to ride! Note: bicycle parts are not provided, so if you know your need a new tube or tire, bring it with you.
At Repair Café, coffee and tea are free, with a donation jar for home-baked sweet and savory treats and fruit.
Repair Cafes are co-sponsored by Kingston Transition and Kingston’s Climate Smart Commission.
