Multi-cultural genre-bending Duo Frenchy and the Punk based in NY features Hardcore punk veteran guitarist Scott Helland (founding member and bassist of Deep Wound – with J Mascis and Lou Barlow, Outpatients) and French-born singer/percussionist Samantha Stephenson. Their acoustic based and highly spirited show has an abundance of sound thanks to Helland’s innovative yet subtle live looping guitars which perfectly complement Stephenson’s powerful and sultry vocals sung both in English and French. They also deliver some tight choreographed drumming instrumentals, think Rio meets Blue Man group. “Top 25 Dynamic Duos” Yahoo Music Blog / “Beautifully evolved from the Punk scene” NPR / “stripped-down DIY energy, tribal rhythms, and earthy drama” Chronogram / www.frenchyandthepunk.com
