“The Cunt Drawings are the end result of Danish artist Rakel Stammer’s month long residency at Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale, NY. The series consists of multiple screen prints illustrated and printed by the artist. Drawing upon inspiration from Audre Lorde, Rakel explores the erotic image as an attempt to formulate a visual language that centralizes her own gaze and allows her to exist within the frame as an erotic subject, rather than the more conventional object.
Rakel Stammer is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, organizer as well as an award winning and internationally published cartoonist. Her art has been exhibited in Sweden, Denmark, Russia and Mexico.
More on G H O S T points:
We all have our ghosts: something unwanted, hanging around, that’s got its hooks in us. It could be that ex you can’t move on from, your Instagram feed that’s burning away your minutes, a hamster wheel thought process, or any other force holding you back from being your best self.
The 13 Ghost Points were designed by a master acupuncturist of the 6th century to be used in treatment for the possessed. Together they crystalize the bridge between true-self and the greater universe, allowing a person to shake off an unnatural presence.
This weekend we’ll be dipping our toes into the powers of the Ghost Treatment. We’ll awaken a limited selection of these points to create a conduit to the deeper self and identify what no longer serves us. We’ll ride on the Autumn energy to shed the fiery excesses of the Summer as we delve into the nourishing quiet of the Winter.
