Have you ever wanted to learn to ride around your city on 2 wheels of bicycle bliss? Have you ever wanted to gain confidence riding in a non-competitive environment with a friendly group of bicycle enthusiasts at a slow and steady pace? Have you ever wanted to commute on two wheels, but didn’t know where to begin and how to go about it? Do you remember the shortcuts you used to take when you were a kid, but forgot and now would love to remember them again?
Look no further than Bike Friendly Kingston’s summer slow rides beginning on Thursday, April 20th, 2017. The rides will leave promptly at 5:30PM each Thursday from the Deitz Stadium parking lot and will typically ride between 10 and 15 miles. These rides will be geared towards riding at a slow and steady pace, with stops along the way to ensure nobody is left behind. We want to stress that these rides are non-competitive and require no special gear. You should be able to maintain a conversation as we ride.
Early in the season we will choose rides that don’t have much change in topography, but as the season progresses, rides will become a bit more ambitious, so we can explore more of the city and surrounding area. The starting time may also change to 6pm as the daylight lasts longer.
Bring yourself, a bike, and a water bottle to Dietz Stadium, for a Thursday Slow Ride, leaving at 5:30PM each week. Come ride with us!
Bike-Friendly Kingston is an association of individuals who share a common goal: to make Kingston a safer, more bike-able city. We meet monthly to pursue a range of activities, including advocating for better bicycle infrastructure and policies and educating Kingston residents about the benefits of safe and responsible bicycling. Our goal is to make Kingston the best place to ride a bike in the Hudson Valley!
