Australian Bushfire Fundraiser

Village Coffee and Goods

Massive fires have been raging across Australia since September, killing at least 27 people and, staggeringly, over half a billion wildlife. So far, around 14 million acres of Australian forest (estimates of up to 50% of New South Wales’s forests) parks and bushland have been devastated.

Agriculture and viticulture have also been hugely affected. In the Adelaide Hills wine region in South Australia, a blaze on December 20th destroyed 30% of the region’s vineyard area and a number of wineries, outbuildings, equipment and stock, leaving many small business left with nothing.
Kingston’s Aussie-owned local cafe, Village Coffee and Goods, will be hosting a fundraiser on Thursday January 23rd 5:30-7:30pm (three days shy of Australia Day) to help in the relief effort. Village Coffee will be whipping up homemade Aussie treats like veggie pies, lamingtons and Vegemite toasties; Local Kingston resident Christina Pickard, Contributing Editor for Wine Enthusiast Magazine, who reports on and reviews Australian wines, will be donating Aussie wine from her personal collection, including several bottles from the badly affected Adelaide Hills region — ; Olivier and Clare Manchon of m.Sel band, The Hipstones and Robbie Dupree will be providing live music.
Tickets: —$25 for individual or $35 for family, children under 10yrs free, entry fee which includes:
–One glass of Aussie wine
–A selection of Aussie baked goods
–Live music
