A Classic Weekend in Pictures

Two annual running events were hosted in Kingston this weekend under brilliant blue skies and drew hundreds of enthusiastic participants between them. On Saturday, the YMCA held it’s annual Kids Classic and it was encouraging to see kids of all ages picking them up and laying them down as if they were competing in the Olympics. Sunday saw the 33rd Annual running of the Kiwanis Kingston Classic in which hundreds of runners competed in four races(marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k) or took part in a one mile community walk/run event. The Kingston Classic regularly draws hundreds of runners from serious racers to weekend joggers and most from within a 100 mile radius. Both events are a great way to showcase Dietz Stadium as a premiere sporting venue as well as the charm of the Uptown area.

The Kingston Classic is sponsored by the Kingston Kiwanis and promoted by HITS Triathalon Series located here in Ulster County. The HITS team will be holding the first ever triathalon on July 11-12 in the Kingston Historic Waterfront District which is sure to be another participant and crowd pleaser.
